Day # 2 - MOTIVATION: WHAT'S YOUR "WHY"?

#2 Motivation: What’s your WHY? Why do you want to achieve this goal? Imagine what your life will be like when you’ve achieved it. What difference will it make? A more powerful question: What will your life be like if you DO NOT achieve this goal? Whether it’s the freedom from financial stress more income will bring, the satisfaction and fulfillment of doing meaningful work, or the health benefits and confidence that come with a fit body, what we’re really talking about is quality of life.  

I had the pleasure of meeting best-selling author and Oprah Winfrey guest, Gail Blanke. Gail explained why she gets up before six o’clock every morning, no matter what the weather conditions are, and jogs around the reservoir in Central Park. Gail raised two amazing daughters. After a health scare some years ago, it became clear to her that one of the things she most desired was to run and play on the beach with her grandchildren. In order to do that, she would have to be alive and fit. These grandchildren have been conceived only in Gail’s mind at this point, but they are so real to her she can see their fine, golden curls blowing in the sea breeze and their tiny toes in the sand. She can feel a warm, little hand in each of her hands and hear their laughter as they run along the shore beside her. THAT’S what gets her up in the cold, dark, wind, snow, and rain to run. That’s her Why. What’s yours?
